As a volunteer led, non-profit organization FAB relies primarily on fundraising to support the cost of running our programs and training FAB girls. We are sincerely grateful for the generous sponsorships that help more FAB girls reach their goals, build self-esteem and achieve their proudest moment - crossing the finish line.
Sharon Carolan is proud to be involved with FAB and its wonderful work with helping youth girls build a foundation from which they can become happy, strong and independent women. As an active runner, having completed several marathons including Boston, New York City and Toronto, Sharon relates to the positive influence running has on her life’s achievements. In 1986, Sharon opened Parkview Children's Centre engaging her education in art and design combined with child studies. When the Centre became a non-profit organization two years later, she became the executive director reporting to the board of directors. Within twenty years, Sharon’s active involvement in advocating for better early education led Parkview to expand to three locations, providing services to more than 300 families. Since 2007, Sharon has been an award-winning real estate sales representative at Royal LePage Burloak Real Estate Services.
More than sixty years ago, dedicated and visionary members of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton East recognized the need for quality programs and recreation opportunities for children and youth and opened Hamilton's very first Boys and Girls Club in the northeast end of the city. Boys and Girls Clubs of Hamilton now draws more than 4,000 children and youth from across the city and operates in multiple locations to better meet the needs of families in diverse neighbourhoods. Boys and Girls Clubs of Hamilton has grown into one of the region's most established and effective youth serving organizations and looks forward to continuing to enhance its capacity to serve the community and meet neighbourhood needs. We are proud of our history of leveling the playing field and providing opportunities for children and youth to reach their full potential in life, by supporting their healthy physical, educational, and social development.
